The Cheapest and Healthiest Way to do Ice Cream

If you could choose one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

We have all inevitably been asked this question before. Some people take a while to ponder it before answering. They want to want to be clever. They try to show that they are forward thinking.

In the world of the Milk Man, this question requires no thought or debating. There is only one answer:


Ice cream is my lifeblood. I cannot and will not live without it. The problem is ice cream is not exactly healthy. I love this sweet, creamy, delicious concoction, but I know it does not love my waistline. To add insult to injury, its not too cheap either. A pint of Ben & Jerry’s can cost up to $8 in NYC!

Fun Fact: I once went on a mission to try every Ben & Jerry’s flavor. Every Sunday I would buy a new pint and house it. It was an electric time in my life…

Don’t sleep on Chunky Monkey or Cinnamon Buns…

So what’s the solution? I considered all options:

  • Once per week: love is love. This simply is not enough…
  • Once per day: maybe I can keep the weight off, but spending $2,500 per year on ice cream seems excessive…
  • Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner: being 500 pounds has to have some perks right?

When all hope was lost, I made a discovery that would change my life. And no, it was not that Halo Top guar-gum-filled garbage. Real ice cream eaters know that stuff is trash…

Instead it was something so simple, so easy and so delicious…

Banana Ice Cream

If you have never made ice cream from bananas, then I’m about to blow your mind. Crafting this dessert requires 3 ingredients and a blender. That’s it.

  • 1 large frozen banana
  • 2 ounces of milk
  • Cinnamon (optional)

Break the frozen banana into chunks and toss it in the blender. Add a splash of milk and fire that puppy up. In less than a minute, you will be left with a gift from the gods. Creamy texture, sweet taste, and healthy! As a bonus, it costs about 30 cents per serving!

Now once you’ve mastered the right ratio of frozen banana to milk, you are ready for the big leagues. Start experimenting with additional add-ins and flavor profiles. You’ll find a gold mine of banana ice cream recipes below:

Milkman’s Banana Ice Cream Vault


  • 1 large frozen banana
  • 2 ounces of milk
  • 1 medium avocado
  • Cocoa powder (optional)

Choco Banana

  • 1 large frozen banana
  • 2 ounces of milk
  • Cocoa powder – not sure how much, just keep loading it up, mixing it and taste testing until you find your desired level.

Funky Monkey

  • 1 large frozen banana
  • 2 ounces of milk
  • 2 tablespoons of peanut butter

French Toasted

  • 1 large frozen banana
  • 2 ounces of milk
  • Cinnamon
  • Maple syrup – a heavy hand never hurt nobody

Stawberries n’ Cream

  • 1 large frozen banana
  • 2 ounces of milk
  • 1 cup strawberries

Matcha Matcha Man

  • 1 large frozen banana
  • 2 ounces of milk
  • ½ tablespoon of matcha powder – slowly add it and taste test. Too much matcha is a real problem.

Boring Bahnilla

  • 1 large frozen banana
  • 2 ounces of milk
  • ¼ teaspoon of vanilla extract
